Counselling and Psychotherapy are talking therapies which provide an opportunity for people to talk through difficulties in their lives, gain insight and awareness and, ultimately, overcome their problems. There is a large body of evidence to show that change in therapy mostly happens through having a supportive, respectful and genuine relationship with the therapist, which allows the client to be heard and valued. This is the case across the whole spectrum of psychological therapies, including cognitive and behavioural therapies as well as more traditional talking therapies.
Counselling and psychotherapy are conducted in a confidential and safe environment, with a trained practitioner.
Sessions usually take place at the same time and day each week either online or from my room in central London and last for 50 minutes.
The terms 'Counselling' and 'Psychotherapy' are often used interchangeably. Traditionally psychotherapy was on a longer term basis and explored issues in greater depth, whereas counselling was more short term and goal-focussed. However it is possible to have short term psychotherapy and long term counselling, depending on the modality of an individual therapist.
I am able to work in a way that involves exploring issues in further depth and I am also able to work in a more solution-focussed way. I provide both long and short term therapy from my location in central London and online via video link. The length of the therapy will depend on your individual needs.
